Eachsnakecreatesascentmapofitssurroundings,includingthesmellofitsownden.Scientistshavetrackedsnakesmigratingupto12 kilometers(about7.5miles)fromtheirdens.Thesnakeswillusetheirscentmaptoreturntothesamedenbeforethenextwinter.
